Adriana Martínez Falcón Mexican society was very excited with Mambo. In Mexico there was a genre of movies called "Rumberas", which is related to those women who danced Mambo at night bars... I know that for example Grace Zhang danced mambo also, but the differenced was that Cuban immigrants and latin American dancers show their body with few clothes... This example is of the mambo called "Sun sun babae" and the dancer is the Cuban Ninón Sevilla

yes indeed i plan to share grace zhang 葛蘭! as we can see in the video, you are right that the way they dress is very difficult. in the lyric of 我愛恰恰, 倫巴rumba, 森巴samba, 快狐步quickstep, 圓舞步waltz, 曼波mambo, and 恰恰cha cha are memtioned. rumba, mambo, and cha cha are dance/music genre from cuba (afro-cuba root). although grace zhang was not as sexually explicit as ninon sevilla, but i want to highlight from 00:48-00:52, when grace sings 有誰不會, 我就來教, she eyes are really sexy! excellent example of how well grace knows about 關目(中國戲曲強調之眼神, 極其重要) and comtemporary hk 夜總會風情 in that age. prof Yu siu wah says in his book 樂猶如此 (pp. 137): 當時代表「現代」和「西化」的流行舞步如查查cha cha 與曼波mambo 等亦成為國語電影的音樂元素及流行賣點. i guess these dances were also popular in US at that time.
compared with cha cha and mambo, hip hop, rap, and street dance are the popular genres in this generation, ie 狂舞派. nevertheless, latin ballroom dance 拉丁舞現代舞 are still very popular in hk now! two examples: 各大會堂展板 and 剛過去的藝發展投票門口的支持者群眾. 當天受到前所未有的問候, 哈哈. (我只係陪人去, 無登記功能組別)
