Hi everybody,
The next link is just to share a sacred dance, whose beauty and characteristics were used by the Mexican tourist authorities to promote ethnic diversity in Mexico, among many things. The "Dance of the deer" is practiced by ethnic minorities of the northwest (Yaquis, Mayos, Seris); this dance simulates de life of the sacred animal until its dead Killed by a hunter or a Coyote sometimes. It is associated with the veneration of the animal, and its important as the base of the Northwestern indian cultures of Mexico. The dance now is performed by folk dance groups in Mexico, there are contests, and is performed with no religious purposes. To have the experience of seeing this dance under the religious ceremonies is very hard, and there are not videos with those characteristics at Youtube. Anyway I share a folk dance at this blog as a cultural exchange from Mexico to China.
